Here we go!! MILE 0

Well, not quite mile 0 - we have tens of thousands between us, but to all intents and purposes, this is being written from mile 0! Sailor Boy is so excited, he permitted a selfie. He is still working on the excited look. I am saying "EEEEEEEK"

We finally departed this morning with 40kts of wind to see us on our way, downwind sailing, with 5m swell. It's fun, but not as fun as it would be on a mono-hull. She certainly doesn't sail as smoothly as some boats we have been on. But it's exciting nonethe ess, and also amazing watching the dolphins under the nets at the bow. We've counted hundreds - photos to follow!

I am dosed up on ginger, lemon, honey and flu tablets to deal with the cold Franco has already given me, so the vaporub supplies are coming into their own already.

We can't sleep much between watches as I guess we are still trying to get used to this boat's certain noises and jerks. Shouldn't take too long for that to sink in.

The weather forecast is looking like the weather is going to calm down by mid-night, so hopefully will be a bit more comfortable then! If not, we at least this boat provides a different class of discomfort :-)

But for now, Ciao.
