Fishfingers for EVERYONE

1370 nautical miles down, another 1300 nautical miles to go… to Darwin! With apologies to Mr Bon Jovi... ‘Ohhh we’re half way there, we’re living on a….. boat’ (let the ear worm commence: you're welcome) There's not a lot to say really, There is only so much you can say when all you see is the sea… and the sea… and more sea… We are approximately 270 miles away from the nearest land and it's getting even hotter and stickier now, and the prospect of having signal on our phones again is quite exciting. The wind is still a lovely SSE and we are goosewinging downwind (the main to one side, the gib to the other), and have been for the past 24 hours, surfing all the waves that don't knock us in to a little jibe.

We have had a few instances of of rain, which was like a welcomed luke-warm shower. Everyone is starting to settle nicely in to their watches, 2 hours on 8 hours off, In Darwin we are picking up another crew member, a friend of the owner. So it’ll be 2 hours on 10 hours off! Oh the endless possibilities of 10 hours of reading, sunbathing and looking for sharks. Talking of sharks - still nothing! We saw a whale today, unsure of what variety. But it was reasonably big, about 3-4 metre, casually and briskly gliding with our boat.

Our provisions took a welcome boost today when we managed to catch a big sword fish, 2.5m long! The old vegetarian in me fretted that it's to kill an animal, but there is something also satisfying about catching your own food... and it tasted REALLY GOOD.

I'm 4 books down so far, Franco is still reading! Our tans are coming along nicely, and seen as we are strictly no alcohol at sea I'm sure our livers are very well cleansed but that cold bottle of vino bianco gets closer everyday, and our tastebuds do a little dance with every mile. Mmmmm white wine and swordfish...
